Kearns Mobility Hub

Kearns Mobility Hub

In the Spring of 2022, the UDOT Travelwise program reached out to Kearns with an idea for a mobility hub demonstration project in the community. Once completed, it will be one of the first examples of a Utah mobility hub outside of Salt Lake City.

What is a mobility hub? It is a place that brings together multiple modes of transportation at a key location. Mobility hubs come in different sizes and designs. They are highly customizable to fit each community’s needs and may include amenities like bike and skateboard locks, scooter parking, seating, and wayfinding. Kearns already has incredible transportation assets, including UTA bus service, community transit maps, and Lime and Bird e-scooter programs. The key is to bring these assets together to better serve community members.

What’s next? The project team has been meeting with local organizations and key stakeholders to understand what residents need from a Kearns mobility hub, and what locations in the community may be feasible for small mobility improvements. Mobility Hub posters and engagement activities were also shared at the 2022 Night Out Against Crime, and in the Kearns Library. The team hopes to organize a community event in the spring to share ideas, showcase various transportation amenities, and obtain additional feedback from the public.

The team has also worked with the Kearns Youth Council to put together a logo and branding materials for the mobility hub. We are excited to share the designs at the spring community event. In the meantime, we would like to extend a huge thank you to the Youth Council for their engagement and incredible work!
