Mayor Brems was honored to run for the first elected Mayor of Emigration Canyon City. He has served Emigration Canyon City and EC Township Council from the beginning of ECMETRO in 2016. Mayor Brems has been a resident of Emigration Canyon since 1979, building two homes and raising a family. His 50-year architectural career is helpful solving problems of appropriate site planning, building design and urban design. He served on SLCO and Emigration Planning Commission beginning in 1988, finding creative ways to solve problems in the best interest of all Emigration Canyon residents and applicants.
Leading the adoption of Emigration Canyon's Dark Sky Ordinance and Emigration General Plan is one of his great achievements. The Dark Sky ordinance is a model for Utah.
As a new City, Mayor Brems says we will face challenges. Some of these issues include: Unified Police (UPD) enforcement of speed and noise, unfair SLVESA taxation, Road improvements, and planning an Emigration Canyon Community Center. Mayor Brems is the chair of the UPD Board and is on the Salt Lake Valley Law Enforcement Area (SLVLESA) Board.
